One of the fastest and most expensive hypercar is in town and it can be your’s for a cool 16 Cr! As we said earlier, Volkswagen Group Co. Bugatti has launched the ‘Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport’ at a starting price of Rs 16 Cr making it the most expensive car on sale right now in India.

“Bugatti has been doing well in America, Europe and the Middle East. Now we see India as an emerging market for us, hence we have decided to bring the car to India,” said Guy Caquelin Bugatti Automobiles Sales Market Manager ( Middle East, Europe and India.

The car will be distributed by company’s only Indian dealer, Exclusive Motors which is also the sole distributor of Bentley and Lamborghini in India.

“The price of the car will be subject to foreign exchange fluctuation and the levels of customization that a buyer demands” said Satya Bangla, Managing Director, Exclusive Motors.

The car will be delivered in around 6-8 months from the date of order.

Bugatti Veyron is powered by a 8 liter Quad Turbo W16 engie delivering 1000 bhp and is capable of doing 0-100 kph in just 2.7 seconds with a top speed on the brighter side of 407 kph!

Bugatti Veyron needs no introduction. A mere mention of the name conjures up images of a 8.0 liter Quad-Turbo W16 engine powered nuclear submarine errrrr car blasting down a German autobahn at 400+ kmph!

With the kind of roads and traffic that we drive on in India, Bugatti Veyron will be a bit of an overkill, actually more than a bit, but that isn’t stopping the company from launching it in India. Yes sir, one of the most hallowed supercar no hypercar on the planet is coming to India and is coming later this month.

According to sources close to the development, the car is likely to cost 12 crores Indian rupees and has already attracted a couple of buyers in the country. The car will be sold through Exclusive Motors which is also the sole distributor of Bentley and Lamborghini in India.

“The car is slated for launch soon but we cannot disclose its price and other specifications,” said Satya Bagla, managing director of Exclusive Motors.

The company will announce five dealerships in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chandigarh in the due course with the aim of increasing the total count to more than 20 within the next 5 years.

“The bikes will be imported as completely built units (CBUs). That’s why there is 100 per cent import duty. However, we will see how the market matures and we are open to manufacturing in India if it is viable. We are here to create a new culture of leisure riding,” said Mr Prakash.

Volkswagen Phaeton Launched At Auto Expo 2010

Europe’s largest car maker Volkswagen has launched its flagship luxury sedan Phaeton today at the Auto Expo 2010 in New Delhi.

The move also marked Volkswagen’s first entry in the high-end luxury segment in India.  The Phaeton for India will come with a 3.0 Litre V6 engine which develops a maximum of 280 bhp @ 6200 rpm and a maximum 370 nm of torque @ a relatively low 3500 rpm.

To be positioned as a handcrafted luxury car, the Phaeton comes with a long list of standard equipments and top notch safety features. The insides are swathed in high quality leather and come with Climatronic Auto A/C, 12-way electronically adjustable seat with memory function, cruise control, rear seat entertainment system and parking distance control for both front and rear.

Safety is taken care by a barrage of air bags (8 to be exact!), ABS, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Advance pedestrian safety system and Anti-theft alarm.

The Phaeton has been priced at Rs 75 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom, Delhi) and the sales will commence later this year in March.

Volkswagen showcases its flagship product- the Phaeton on the second day of Auto Expo in New Delhi

The handcrafted luxury car to be sold in India from March 2010 onwards

New Delhi, January 6, 2010: Volkswagen, Europe’s largest car maker showcased its premium flagship product the Phaeton at the New Delhi Auto Expo today. It is Volkswagen’s first entry in the high-end luxury segment in India.

Commenting on its market introduction, Mr. Neeraj Garg, Member of Board & Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars said “As part of our top down strategy the Phaeton is our debut in the growing luxury segment in India. The Phaeton, offers high end luxury features providing top notch technology, pure quality and above all it is handcrafted, thereby making each Phaeton unique in itself.” 

The Phaeton will be priced at Rs. 75 Lakhs (Ex showroom Delhi) and will commence sales from March this year.

Positioned as handcrafted luxury, the Phaeton is equipped with a robust 3.6 litre V6 Petrol Engine with an output of 280 HP @ 6250 rpm and a maximum torque of 370 Nm @ 3500 rpm. The Phaeton is paired with a 6 Speed tiptronic gearbox, and 17 inch Alloy wheels.

The Volkswagen Phaeton stands for luxurious travel, precision craftsmanship and state of the art technology, clearly defined by its 12-way electric seat adjustment with memory. It also features climatronic auto air conditioner, cruise control, rear seat entertainment system, parking distance control for both front and rear, all completed with leather upholstery. The Phaeton is concealed beneath every millimeter ensures maximum comfort, safety and pleasure for true drivable experience delivering the complete in smoothness of ride.
