We already know how the Indian F1 GP track which will host its first race in 2011 looks like but how about a hot lap around the circuit with Force India F1 car screaming its guts out at every turn! Well read on!

Designed by legendary designer Hermann Tilke, the 5.1 kilometers long undulating track will have a total of 16 corners and a long straight between turn 3 and 4 which will see F1 cars screaming past at over 300 kmph.

A grand stand with a capacity of 13,000 will overlook the turn 10 and turn 11 giving the F1 fans an opportunity to be a part of the action. The stunning waved grand stand will house a further 30,000 fans bringing in the total estimated capacity at 120,000 spectators.

Force India F1 driver Adrian Sutil has topped the timesheet in the first free practice session for the Formula 1 2010 season at Bahrain Circuit in Sakhir.

The Mercedes Benz powered VJM03 showed stunning pace enabling Adrian to finish first ahead of the second placed Ferrari of Fernando Alonso which was three-tenths slower for most part of the session only coming back in the final hot lap of the day finishing one-tenths slower. Renault Robert Kubica finished at third position ahead of Alonso’s team mate Felipe Massa with McLaren’s Jenson Button rounding off the top five drivers of the day.

The other McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton finished sixth followed by Force India’s Vitantonio Luizzi which was just .03 of a second slower confirming the genuine pace of the 2010 Force India F1 car.

Seven times world F1 chamption Michael Schumacher finished a decent 10th, two places behind his team mate Nico Rosberg who finished on 8th position.

Vijay Mallya owned Force India F1 team is on an upward climb ever since the pole position at Spa last year which saw Fisichella finishing second behind Kimi’s Ferrari.

Hispania racing’s Karun Chandok who will be making his F1 debut this season failed to record a hot lap due to a mechanical failure.

Force India, India’s first and only Formula 1 team have revealed their F1 car VJM03 for the season 2010.

‘The VJM03 is definitely an evolution of the VJM02 in terms of the design philosophies we have developed at Force India over the last year. We are very happy with the direction, therefore we have opted to evolve the car rather than significantly revise” explained Force India Design director Mark Smith.

‘Our goal is to continue on the same path of performance improvement that we had at the end of 2009,’ said chairman and team principal Dr Vijay Mallya.

“I don’t think I am being over-proud when I say 2009 was an exceptional year for us. The bare statistics say it all: one podium, one pole position, one fastest lap, a further five top 10 starts and 13 points. We’ve learnt from our experiences and we’ve come out a better team: resilient, resourceful and now resurgent. I hope 2010 will see this great progress carrying forward. We’ve got one podium so far but I would hope that, this time next year, I’m talking about more points and more podiums. I’m confident we can get this, why not aim high?” he added.

The VJM03 will make its testing debut at Jerez circuit in Spain on February 10 with Tonio Liuzzi on the driver’s seat for the first two days before Adrian Sutil takes over on 12th February for a further two days.

A day after Ferrari announced the F10, Mclaren have launched MP4-25, their Formula 1 challenger for the season 2010.

Mclaren finished a 3rd last year behind Red Bull racing and the first placed Brawn GP F1 team. For this year, the Mclaren F1 team has concentrated their efforts on improving the aerodynamics which are said to be throughly overhauled. The power still comes from the Mercedes Benz supplied FO 108X V8 which has become a benchmark of sorts, winning the last two driver’s world championships.

When Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton take to the driver seat of the new MP4-25 this season it would be the first time since 1989, when Alain Prost and Aryton Senna ran together,  that any team has fielded a joint world championship drive line up. The team begins its pre-season testing in Spain on Monday.

The Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team today revealed its brand new MP4-25 chassis – the car in which reigning world champion Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton will contest the 2010 FIA Formula 1 World Championship.

Unveiled at Vodafone UK’s stunning headquarters in Newbury, the 2010 car looks noticeably different from last year’s race-winning MP4-24. MP4-25 features a radical aerodynamic overhaul and a significantly larger fuel tank to take full advantage of this year’s new regulations, and its design team is confident it has explored every possible avenue to maximise the car’s performance.

Horsepower once again comes from our friends in Stuttgart. Mercedes-Benz’s FO 108X V8 subtly improves upon an engine which has become the benchmark in Formula 1, winning the last two drivers’ world championships.

The team kicks off its 2010 campaign with a stunning driver pairing: 2009 world champion Jenson Button and 2008 title winner Lewis Hamilton. It is the first time since 1989 – when it ran Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna – that the team has fielded a joint-world champion driver line-up, and marks the first time in Formula 1 history that the sport’s two most recent world champions have been partnered together.

However, the driver line-up represents only a fraction of the team’s remarkable strength in depth. Members of the design team who contributed to the development of MP4-25 can also trace their involvement back through an incredible seven drivers’ world championships, five of the team’s eight constructors’ world championships and 112 of the team’s 164 grand prix victories.

The Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team begins pre-season testing with MP4-25 at the Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo on Monday.

The F10, Ferrari's challenger for the 2010 F1 season

Ferrari has become the first Formula 1 team to unveil their 2010 car, F10 on thursday at their Maranello headquarters in Italy.

The new car will be driven by Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa as Ferrari hopes to reverse their fortunes for the 2010 season. 2009 was a forgettable year for the team which saw them win just one race while finishing a distant 4th in constructor championships.

The new F10 is longer than the outgoing car primarily because of the larger fuel tank since teams are no longer allowed mid-race re-fuelling. The front wheels are narrower than the rear one’s and the whole braking system has been modified to suit the larger weight the fuel heavy car is going to carry.

The engine type of the new F10 is o56 while the chassis is a carbon fibre and honeycomb composite structure with a much bigger diffuser.

The event was kicked off by Team Principal Stefano Domenicali which was attended by Felipe Massa, Fernando Alonso. The team’s engineering team, including technical director Aldo Costa, engine boss Luca Marmorini and designer Nikolas Tombazis, as well as Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemelo were also in attendance at the Maranello launch.

This would be Fernando’s first outing with the Maranello based team. The 2 times world champion was visibly excited and predicted that the F10 would be the car to reclaim his and Ferrari’s title winning ways.

“This is my first presentation with Ferrari, and it means a lot to me,” said the Spaniard. “I’d like to thank the whole team because I know they have worked really hard over the last few months to create this dream, this new car. We are ready to take on this challenge. Felipe and I will be a very strong team and we hope that we will make all the Ferrari supporters around the world very proud to see this car winning the championship.”

“This car is the result of a very intense programme of work which started in the spring of 2009,” said Costa. “This activity became more intense during the summer following our strategic choice to leave the development of the F60 and focus on the development of this car. It contains all the passion and all the determination of a very confident group. We want to forget what happened last year and be competitive from the very first race.”

"The Doctor" from Moto GP to F1 Testing

The Doctor is at it yet again and this time on 4 wheels! The nine times Moto GP world champion has impressed all and sundry with his raw pace in a Formula one car at the end of two days testing with Ferrari in Barcelona in Spain.

Driving a 2008 spec Ferrari F1 car on GP2 tyres, the italian legend got within 0.1 second of Kimi’s 2008 pole position time at Catalunya circuit by posting a best time of 1.21.900. The time came in the penultimate lap of the test which was arranged by Ferrari as a gift for the champion for clinching his 9th Moto GP world championship title last season.

“We kept the last three quarters of an hour to try a ‘time attack’ with little petrol and fresh tyres,” said the thirty year old Fiat Yamaha rider.

 ”I would have given anything for such a lap time”, he added.

Compairing his experience with his last test for Ferrari at Mugello in 2008, Rossi said “We kept the last three quarters of an hour to try a ‘time attack’ with little petrol and fresh tyres. I would have given anything for such a lap time.”

“I want to thank Ferrari, but especially Domenicali and Montezemolo, for giving me this present.”

Ferrari’s Luca Baldisserri was suitably impressed by Rossi’s showing given the difficult test conditions on day 1 which was disrupted by wet weather.

“We tried different set ups and he improved a lot. This means that the driver learns quickly and has room for improvement.” he said.
