Bajaj Auto has announced a new metallic orange dual tone shade for the hot selling Pulsar motorcycle range in India.

The dual tone shade will come with metallic orange for the fuel tank and rear cowl and black for the mid section and front mudguard and will be available on the following Pulsar models.

2011 KTM Duke 125

Austrian bike maker KTM has officially debuted its 125cc Street Motorcycle Duke at the Cologne bike show in Germany.

The 125cc bike which was developed in partnership with Bajaj Auto was showcased as a concept at various auto show around Europe last year. The motorcycle unveiled at Cologne will be hitting European roads by spring 2011 and will also be coming to India.

The KTM Duke 125 features a 125cc four stroke liquid cooled DOHC (dual overhead camshaft) fuel injected (BOSCH) engine which develops a healthy 15 ps @ 10,500 rpm and 8.9 lb-ft of maximum torque @ 8000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox for ideal spread of power. The components on the bike have been developed for unlimited durability and easy servicing to gurantee a carefree ownership experience.

The bike features a light trellis frame welded from thin steel tubes for maximum strength while the rugged suspension comes from suspension specialists WP-Suspension. The bike also comes with 280 mm front disc brake and 230 mm rear disc developed in co-operation with Brembo, light weight alloy wheels and multi-functional instrument console.

It is still unclear how much the bike will be toned down for the Indian market but we expect the bike to be launched here with minimal changes.

The record run for the Indian automobile industry continues with Bajaj Auto announcing its sales numbers for the month of August 2010.

The company has clocked an all time high monthly sales of 3,29,364 units in August, representing 55% jump when compared to the same month last year in which it sold 2,13,072 units.

Motorcycles were the biggest gainer with 59% jump in sales to 2,98,176 units compared to 1,82,441 units in the previous year. The company sold the highest number of Pulsar and Discover bikes last month.

Three wheeler sales for the month stand at 40,188 units, a growth of over 34% when compared to 30,021 units sold in the same month last year.

Exports for both two and three wheelers have also increased by 31% to finish at 98,578 units against 75,164 units in August 2009.

India’s second largest tw0 wheeler maker, Bajaj Auto has launched the new Avenger upgraded with a 220cc DTSi engine from Pulsar.

Cosmetically, the new Avenger remains the same as the older model with same overall proportions but bigger motor will give it extra legs on the highway. The 220cc engine in Avenger delivers 19.03 PS of maximum power @ 8400 rpm and a maximum 17.5 nm of torque @  7000 rpm.

Other improvements to the Avenger include

1) DC Lightening for flicker free headlight beam at low revs and Intelligent Auto Shut Off Light which would automatically shut off the light when the engine is off to conserve battery.

2) Sealed “O-ring” Chain which keeps the chain lubricated for longer periods.

3) Dual Foam seat

The bike comes in four colors – Plasma Blue, Cocktail Wine Red, Mist Grey Silver and Midnight black and has been priced at Rs 76,876 on road Pune.

India’s second largest two wheeler maker Bajaj Auto has introduced refreshed version of the highly successful Pulsar 135 LS in the Indian market.

The revision include a new and far more aesthetic rear tyre hugger in place of the full rear wheel covering contraption and the addition of O-ring chain with half chain covers which looks sportier. The addition of O-ring chain is a welcome addition since it can resist moisture and dust for longer periods without needing maintenance.

The new revision comes sans any price hike making the new 135 LS an even better value for money proposition with its combination of equipment, 150cc beating performance and fuel efficiency.

India’s second largest two wheeler maker, Bajaj Auto has launched the all new Discover 150cc in the Indian market.

Priced aggressively at Rs 46,000, Ex-Showroom Delhi, the new Discover comes with a 150cc DTS-i engine delivering 13 ps of maximum power @ 7500 rpm and a maximum 12.75 Nm of torque at 5500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5 speed gearbox with one up and four down pattern.

With the tag line “more excitement per liter” the new Discover plays the value for money tag that Bajaj is renowned for. The bikes comes with feature such as LED tail lamps, nitrox suspension, electric start, 100 section rear tyre and electric start as standard.  The claimed mileage is an impressive 65 kmpl.

India’s second largest two-wheeler maker, Bajaj Auto has reported a massive 84 percent jump in bike sales for April 2010.

The company sold a total of 2,76,095 bikes in April 2010 compared to 1,49,733 units in the same month last year. Total two wheeler sales stand at 2,76,122 units in April 2010 compared to 1,50,252 in the same month a year earlier.

Three wheelers sales have also risen to 37,350 units for the month of April 2010, a rise of 98% when compared to 18,867 units in the same month a year earlier.

Cumulative sales stand at 3,13,472 units compared to 1,69,119 units in the same period a year ago, a growth of 85 percent according to the press release. Exports have also gone up to 1,13,911 units from 51,887.

If our friends at motoroids are to be believed performance bike seekers will soon have a reason to rejoice!

Bajaj is in the final stages of developing a brand new bike which will sport a 250cc parallel twin liquid cooled engine… yes full monty! According to component suppliers based around Pune, the bike is under development for quite some time now and will be out sooner than you would expect.

The bike will be at the top of the food chain in the Pulsar family and will come powered by a four valve parallel twin liquid cooled 250cc fuel injected engine which will deliver maximum power in the region of 28-33 bhp. And while the engine is certainly a very good news, the chassis and the related aggregates are even better.

The new flagship Pulsar will ditch the tubed steel frame and will come with properly modern and rigid Aluminium beam frame, the one’s you have on superbikes these days! Other go fast bits expected on the bike include rising rate link type mono shock rear suspension and front and rear disc brakes. And since its a Bajaj, expect long list of standard equipments which should include clip-on handle bars, projector headlamps, alloy wheels, fat tyres and an all new digital instrument console.

All this would fail if the bike doesnt manage to look good and for this Bajaj will adopt a completely new design philosophy.  Expect a properly good looking, contemporary bike which should carry the tag of ‘flagship’ with great elan.

The best bit about any Bajaj bike is the performance to price tag ratio and the new Pulsar is expected to be no different. The new Pulsar will be priced in the region of INR 1.3 to 1.5 Lakhs which would make it stellar value for money.

Finally we would have our own performance bike from our very own manufacturer at an Indian price tag, the new couldn’t have been better. Stay tuned!

Bajaj Auto has sold record 5 Lakh units of its 100 cc Discover DTS-Si in 225 days.

The bike has attained a leadership position in West Bengal and the entire North-East region by becoming the highest selling motorcycle overall in the two wheeler catagory. The company was unable to meet the demand in February and hence has ramped up the production from the earlier 75,000 units to 100,000 unit to meet demand.

Bajaj Discover DTS-Si was launched last year @ INR 41,736 Ex-Showroom, Delhi and is available in a total of 5 colors.

The new Platina is even more value for money!

Bajaj Auto has launched the souped up version of the Platina 125cc motorcycle which now comes with 5 speed gearbox and dual color decals for the body.

The extra gear spreads out the gear ratios delivering better performance within the city and out on the open roads with better mileage and lugging abilities. The engine remains the same 125cc unit with 8.5 bhp of maximum power @ 700o rpm.

The Platina also comes with Bajaj’s ride control switch  which offers Economy and Power modes, Spring in Spring SNS suspension, longer seat which ups the utiliterian value a notch. The bike also comes with wider new headlamps which has better throw, larger wheelbase and wider 3″ tyre at the rear.
