The VW Vento has been priced very competitively!
Volkswagen India have announced the pricing of Vento sedan today at a launch ceremony held specially for motoring journalists in Jaipur today. The car has been launched at a very competitive INR 6.99 Lakhs for the 1.6 liter petrol Trendline and INR 7.99 Lakhs for the 1.6 liter diesel Trendline model.
The car was revealed in India in July where the company hadn’t disclosed the pricing. The booking for the Vento is already open at your nearest Volkswagen dealer while the deliveries will start from 6th of September 2010.
The Vento is powered by either a 1.6 liter petrol engine which delivers 105 ps of maximum power @ 5250 rpm and a maximum 15.5 kgm of torque @ a relatively low 3800 rpm or a 1.6 liter turbocharged common rail diesel engine which delivers an identical 105 ps of maximum power @ 4400 rpm but whips the petrol with 25.4 kgm of maximum torque between 1500-2500 rpm! The petrol engine is being offered with either a 5-speed manual or an optional 6-speed DSG gearbox while the diesel comes only with manual transmission. ARAI certified fuel economy for the petrol variant is 15.83 kmpl and 14.4 kmpl for manual and automatic variants respectively while diesel has a rated ARAI fuel economy of an impressive 20.54 kmpl.
The Vento will be available in two variants – Trendline and Comfortline for both diesel and petrol while the Automatic variant will come exclusively in Comfortline trim. With its combination of understated looks, through German engineering and quality and ultra competitive price is sure to make this latest VW a big hit in the Indian market. And that it has a market busting diesel under the hood makes the deal even sweeter…. Honda City should be worried, very worried!
