As we reported earlier, Maruti Suzuki today have launched the all new A-Star Automatic in the Indian market. The new A-Star comes with a relatively modern 4-Speed Automatic transmission making it only the second car in the Maruti lineup to get an autobox as an option after the SX4.
The car comes with a 1.0 liter 3 cylinder K-Series engine which delivers a maximum power of 68 bhp and a maximum 98 nm of torque coupled with an Automatic gearbox. The A-Star uses slot shift mechanism for its transmission rather than the conventional press button and shift mechanism and comes with 6 modes P, R, N, D, 3, 2 and L. Regular automatic mode is D while the options 3, 2, and L can be used to drive the car in any of the three ratio’s with L being the lowest gear suited for climbing up a steep incline or when extra grunt is needed in any situation. The other two modes R and P are used for reverse and park respectively. The car has a ARAI rated fuel efficiency of 17 kmpl.
More details and pricing details after the jump.
The A-Star has been launched at a very competitive Rs 4,34,535 Lakhs Ex-Showroom, Delhi making it the cheapest hatchback available in the country with an automatic transmission. The new variant comes in the VXi trim which has all four power window, CD/MP3 player as standard apart from the Automatic only height adjustable driver seat which is good thinking on part of Maruti.
A-Star’s small footprint coupled with light control and power steering will make it a perfect choice for women and elderly and the competitive pricing goes further to make the it even sweeter a deal. We will have a review up shortly. Stay tuned!
