Toyota Corolla Diesel Launched At Rs 10.95 Lakhs, Ex-Delhi

The Toyota 1.4 D-4D Diesel Engine in Question

As we told you earlier, Toyota Kirloskar India has launched the much awaited Corolla Diesel D4-D in the Indian market.

The car comes powered by a 1.4 liter turbocharged common rail diesel engine producing 87 bhp of maximum power @ 3800 rpm and a healthy 209 nm of maximum torque and is mated to a 6-Speed manual transmission, a first in its segment.

Toyota is claiming ARAI Certified fuel efficiency figure of 21.42 kmpl which is very impressive. What is not impressive is the peak power output which pales in comparison to the Chevrolet Cruze which is priced almost in the same ballpark and the Skoda Laura which comes with a 140 bhp diesel. Performance figures are still not out but we believe the Corolla diesel to hit 100 kph in around 15 seconds which again when compared to the competition is considerably slow.

Interiors and exteriors have remained almost untouched except for a different looking front grille and some minor aerodynamic tweaks. All said Toyota’s USP has always been consistent performance and reliability and the combination of both will be hard to beat in the value and brand conscious Indian car market.

The new Corolla Diesel has been priced at a competitive Rs 10.95 Lakhs for the base model topping at Rs 13.75 Lakhs all prices Ex-Showroom, Delhi.
