Mercedes Benz have stopped the production of one of the most iconic car of the our times, the CLS to pave way for the new generation model.

The next generation model C218 will make its public debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show in September and will go on sale soon afterwards. The current generation CLS made it debut at the 2003 Frankfurt Auto Show and went into production in 2004. The car has been a huge hit for Mercedes Benz and has sold 170,000 units worldwide since its launch. Its also widely considered to be the best looking car to have come out from Mercedes and has spawned the rush of four door coupe’s.

We have already shown you the spy pictures of the new CLS which retains the stylistic elements of the F800 and the CLS Shooting Brake concept that Mercedes has already previewed. The new CLS will be offered with a raft of engines ranging from a 3.5 liter Direct Injected V6 with 300 bhp to 4.7 Liter V8 with 430 bhp and 516 lb-ft of torque.
