As it turns out, this is the new small car that Maruti Suzuki were talking about a few weeks back. The company is all set to launch the ubiquitous Alto powered by the brand new 1.0 liter three cylinder K-Series engine which is currently powering a gamut of small cars from Maruti including the new Wagon-R, Estillo and the A-Star.

New Maruti Suzuki Alto K Series

The new 1.0 liter K Series engine under the hood will provide better driveability with in the city especially with the A/C on, added refinement, better highway performance and better fuel efficiency. The new engine will also enable the Alto to better compete with rivals like the Spark from Chevrolet.

Apart from the new engine, the update will also carry the first major facelift of the Alto (by Maruti standards) in almost a decade that the car has been in the India market. The Alto K series comes with new rear end styling with new tail lights and tailgate which now hosts the number plate slot along with a new bumper. The changes at the front  include newly designed headlights which mimic the tail light units, new grille, bonnet and bumper.

The new Alto will be launched very shortly which is when we will have the pricing and variant details for you but if current reports are to be believed, expect the new Alto to be priced very very competitively.
