
Toyota’s chief test driver, 67 year old Hiromu Naruse, who has been credit with being the ”Godfather of the LF-A” supercar, has died in a crash on highway 410 near the Nurburgring race track in Germany.

He was driving the Lexus LF-A Nurburgring Edition at the time of the accident which veered into the oncoming traffic colliding with a BMW driven by two test drivers head on, according to reports. The two BMW drivers have survived the crash although one is stated to be in critical condition.
Naruse joined Toyota in 1963 and was involved in development of many sports cars from the company’s history including the latest and the greatest LF-A. The prototype of the special edition LF-A that he was driving is reported to be worth 1.5 million Euros.
