If you like us are waiting for the launch of the Fiat Punto Sport (or 90 hp as it called) then here’s some good news. Fiat has finally confirmed the launch of the VGT (variable geometry turbocharger) engined Punto for 16th July 2010.

To be called the Grande Punto 90 HP, the Punto with the more powerful 1.3 liter Multijet engine will be available in the upper end Emotion trim. The engine now delivers 90 bhp and healthier 20.4 kgm of torque at 1750 rpm.
Apart from the engine upgrade Fiat has also improved interior fit and finish, dashboard trim, upgrades to NVH (Noise, Vibrations, Harshness) and some extra features for the interiors like red stitching on the front seats.

As of now there is no news of bigger alloys, optional sunroof, leather seats and sporty decals being available, which we published earlier. Fiat may have shelved these plans to keep the sticker price in check.
