Indian Formula One 2011 Grand Prix Track Noida

Indian formula 1 fans rejoice! The Indian track coming up in Noida, 32 kms outside the National Capital Region is getting ready to host its first grand prix race in the year 2011.

Autocar India has published the details of the track which has been designed by legendary designer Hermann Tilke. The 5.1 km long undulating track will have 16 largely medium speed corners where F1 cars will lap at an average speed of 210 kph. The back straight will let F1 cars reach 320 kmph making it one of the fastest track in the world.

The organizers have also taken feedback from teams which have done the track analysis via simulators leading to modification of the turn 7 in order to maximize overtaking opportunities into banked turn 10. A grand stand with a capacity of 13,000 will overlook the turn 10 and turn 11 giving the F1 fans an opportunity to be a part of the action.

The stunning waved grand stand will house a further 30,000 fans bringing in the total estimated capacity at 120,000 spectators.

With the home favorite Karun Chandok already driving in the F1 and Force India looking good, organizers feel that selling tickers won’t be a major task for them.

Track boss Mark Hughes said “Karun’s presence on the F1 grid has certainly whipped up a lot of interest in India.”

“The feedback from the teams has also been very encouraging and we hope the race will speak for itself,” he added.
