Internet has been rife with rumours of a boot cut Logan which would bring the overall length to under 4 meters attarcting 10% excise duty instead of the current 18%. The duty cut would see a price correction to the tune of almost Rs. 30,000-50,000.
To give credence to the rumours, here is the picture of the cut short Logan which will be launched very shortly. The picture comes to you courtesy BSMotoring.com which say that the new Logan will sport notchback styling.
Other changes to the Logan would include changing the wipers from left hand to right hand drive configuration and increasing localization from the current 50%. The production may also be moved from Mahindra’s Nasik plant to Renault-Nissan’s brand new Chennai facility which has already started manufacturing Micra.
Launched in mid 2007, the sales of the Logan have declined to a measly 250 units previous month from a high of almost 3000 cars per month during its honeymoon period primarily due to better looking and better spec’ed competition like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and the recently launched Tata Indigo Manza. The company believes the new VFM position of the Logan CS will help it claw back its market share.
