With increasing competition in the small car space from competition which are also very competitively priced, India’s largest car maker Maruti is now looking at manufacturing factory fitted CNG vehicles which could be out in the market by next fiscal.
The small car buyers are extremely sensitive to price and the company wants to make its cars affordable for middle class and lower middle class income groups.
Earlier this month Maruti celebrated 1 million units in production and sales for a fiscal year joining the global league of manufacturers like GM, Toyota and Volkswagen etc. who can boast of a million plus units in sales for a single year. The company has produced a total of 1.2 million units this year.
Although there are no details on the type of kit Maruti would use but according to our sources development on Sequential CNG kits is already underway and the car fitted with the same would be out sooner than you can expect in the Metro’s where there is ample availability of the cheaper fuel.
