Hyundai will launch the new variants of its best selling i20 and Santro which will conincide with their upgrade to the new Bharat IV emission norms. The new emission norms will come into effect from April 2010 onwards in all the major metro’s in India.
The new Santro variant christened GLS with Audio will come with an audio system with USB port and 4 speakers and will cost Rs. 9,999/- more than the standard GLS variant. The i20 will get three new variants Era, Sportz and Sportz with alloys. The Era variant will be the new base variant and will be positioned below the current Magna variant while the new Sportz variant will come above the Magna variant but below the top end Asta and Asta(o) variants.
The new variants are expected to increase the sales even further since the new Era variant makes the entry price to the i20 range lower giving more options to the buyers.
