The Sonata Hybrid features a completely different front fascia

Hyundai has released a teaser image of the upcoming hybrid Sonata which will make it public debut at the New York Auto Show.

Unlike other hybrids in the market which are barely distinguishable from their normal counterparts, the new Sonata Hybrid will feature a completely new front fascia as seen in the teaser image. The new face includes larger grille for the front bumper inspired by Blue-Will concept shown at the Detroit Motor Show, new headlamps, new foglamps and bigger air intakes.

The hybrid version will pair 2.4 litre 4 cylinder gasoline engine with a 30 kw electric motor with a delicious 205 nm of torque and will be mated to a six speed automatic transmission. The electric motor will be powered by advanced lithium-polymer batteries which have more charge capacity, are lighter and last longer than conventional lithium-ion batteries. Hyundai have not given out the power and fuel efficiency numbers but the standard 2.4 litre engine in Sonata produces a maximum 201 bhp and 252 nm of torque.

The new 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid will debut at New York Auto Show on 31 March 2010, Wednesday. We will have all the details from the launch… stay tuned!
