Not wanting to play second fiddle to arch rival Mercedes Benz in the Indian market, BMW will bring in its latest 5-Series F10 sedan to India by July this year.
“The new 5 series in completely knocked down (CKD) version will be available for Indian customers by July 2010. X1 will be on roads by December 2010,” said BMW India’s president Peter Kronschnabl at a press conference in Munich on Wednesday.
The company is doing increasingly well in the Indian market selling 3,697 units in 2009, a 38% percent increase when compared to sales in 2008. BMW’s share in the Indian luxury market has gone up from a mere 9% three years ago to a commanding 41% in 2009.
