2010 World Car Of The Year Finalist Announced

Possibly the most coveted of all the automobile awards, the World Car Of The Year finalists have been announced.

The awards to be presented at the New York Motor show next month will have votes from 59 international journalists counted to decided the final winner. The awards will be presented in four catagories:

  • World car of the year
  • Performance car of the year
  • Green car of the year.
  • ‘Design’ car of the year

The finalists announced for the World Car of the year are – W212 Mercedes Benz E-Class, Toyota Prius and the European car of the year and the recently launched Volkswagen Polo hatchback.

The finalists for the world performance car of the year are – Audi R8 V10, Porsche 911 GT3 and the Ferrari California.

In the green catagory, the finalists for the Green Car of the year are – Toyota Prius, Honda Insight and Volkswagen’s BlueMotion offerings.

The design finalists are Citreon C3 Picasso, Kia Soul and Chevrolet Camaro.

The winners will be announced on April 1st 2010 when the New York Auto show goes underway.

If I was decideing on the winner, I’d pick a Kia Soul. The 2011 Soul features unique styling and great powertrain technology, so it should win the contest.
