Fiat to launch grande punto sports

Finally an engine that is a good match for the Grande Punto

The ‘Grande’r Punto would be here and soon. Fiat will launch the more powerful variant of the Punto hatchback, Grande Punto Sports to mark it first anniversary in the Indian market.

The Grande Punto Sports will come with the VGT version of the 1.3 Multijet developing 90 bhp of maximum power. Further appeal comes from the addition of an electric sunroof, a rear spolier, sporty red decals, dual color leather seats and possibly fatters tyres and bigger alloys to complete the look. Fiat showed the car at the Delhi Auto Expo 2010 but didnt announce the launch date.

The new Punto will appeal to the young at heart and to someone who always wanted a Punto but saw the 75 bhp variant a tad underpowered. The new more powerful engine also means that Punto finally has a good match for its chassis and suspension aggregates which are the benchmark not just in its segment but segments above.
