India’s second largest two wheeler maker Bajaj Auto’s bike sales have risen by a whopping 112% compared to the same month last year.
Driven by strong demand for both the Pulsar and Discover brands, the company sold a total of 2.33 Lakh units in January 2010 compared to 1.09 Lakh units a year ago. Total three and two wheeler jumped to 2.7 Lakhs units, more than double compared to the previous year while the exports jumped 33% to 71,695 units.
The Pulsar and Discover accounted for 70% of the total sales volume according to Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto.
“Sales of the Pulsar at 71,970 units last month was at an all time high,” he added.
The newly launched Pulsar 135 sold 28,000 units for the month. “What has been comforting for us is the fact that there has been no cannibalisation and all the Pulsar models have done extremely well. Our entire growth has come from competition,” he added.
