My bedroom wall poster for alteast a month! Sheer art this thing!
AMG… (A)l(M)ighty(G)od, the performance tuning division of Mercedes Benz have debutted their all new 5.5 litre Bi-Turbo V8 madness which will replace the already insane 6.2 litre naturally aspirated V8.

Engine Porn!
The new engine will debut under the hood of 2011 Mercedes Benz S63 AMG (yes its still called the S63 AMG, for Mercedes like the tone ‘S63′ makes!) and will be mated to company’s new seven-speed SpeedShift MCT transmission. The new 5.5 litre Bi-Turbo engine will be available in two states of tune – standard tune with 537 bhp of maximum power and 800 nm of maximum torque between 2000-4500 rpm, optional ‘performance package’ which delivers a whopping 563 bhp and 900 nm of maximum torque between 2500-3750 rpm respectively.
When powering the new 2011 S63 AMG this engine not only makes more power but is also more fuel efficienct by a eye popping 25% and if that’s not all, its faster too with a 0-100 kph spring time of 4.5 seconds, .1 second faster than the previous model… thats technology at work for you and for the environment!
The new found performance and economy is also down to clever programming of the SpeedShift gearbox as well as a driver selectable ‘Controlled Efficiency’ program which instructs the transmission to always start in second gear, shift up as quickly as possible and remains in higher gears for as long as possible. Additionally an Intelligent Generator Management system (similar to KERS) funnels some of the lost kinetic energy lost during braking back into the battery and next generation cylinder deactivation technology which saves precious fuel when cruising at constant speeds.
The standard S63 AMG is electronically limited to 155 mph while the optional performance package model is allowed by the electronic nannies to go all the way upto 186 mph. The new engine will replace the 6.2 litre V8 in all the AMG offering down the line.
Comprehensively detailed press release and image gallery of the 5.5 litre Bi-Turbo V8 in all its mechanical gory… errrrrr… glory!

Just came back from the Ford Figo launch and still in awe! Ford has done the unthinkable by pricing the Figo so competitively that it would send shivers down the spines of the competitors, especially Maruti Suzuki Swift which now quiet frankly looks horribly overpriced.
If you have been following our blog lately, you must have read our scoop on Figo’s pricing and it seems that some last minute brainstorming had Ford dropping prices even more!
The base Ford Figo LXi Petrol is priced at stunning Rs 3,49,900 while the base Diesel LXi starts from a mouthwatering INR 4,47,900! The top end Diesel Titanium is priced at INR 529,900 while Petrol Titanium is priced at INR 4,42,900 making it the cheapest car in its segment, even more so than current value for money champ Indica Vista!

All hail the new superstar from Yamaha!
Cross country exploration on two wheels just got easier. Yamaha has released the details of its grounds breaking Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tenere that has BMW GS1200S firmly in its sight.
The old XT 660 Tenere was a darned tough nut of a motorcycle but when Yamaha calls the new one a ‘Super Tenere’, you have to sit up and take notice. Powered by a 1199cc parallel twin engine using a 270 Degree firing rotation to put the power down in an extremely usable manner. The engine features a 98 mm bore and 79.5 mm stroke and runs on a 11:1 compression ratio.
The engine input is controlled via Yamaha’s chip controlled throttle (YCCT) which offer three stage traction control and can also be switched off completely for off road use. There’s also a D-mode engine map selection switch which gives you the option of sport and touring modes to set up your Tenere for the environment you are riding in.
The XT1200Z Super Tenere also comes with ABS as standard which uses a sophisticated linking system that allows the rider to control whether or not the brakes act independently, fully adjustable front suspension with settings for preload, compression and rebound and a massive 7.5 inch of travel, aluminium rims, shaft drive, adjustable seat height, plastic hand guards and a beefy aluminium skid plate for the engine! Phew!
