A recall has been issued for the 2010 2011 BMW 5-Series and 5-Series GT models to rectify fuel level sensor issue which makes it indicate more fuel than it actually is in the fuel tank.
The fuel level sensor in the tank can become wedged against the tank sidewalls which makes it display larger amount of fuel than it actually is in the fuel tank. The recall has been revealed on NHTSA’s website which also mentions that the issue isn’t extremely dangerous but if the tank becomes empty, there is a danger of the vehicle stalling increasing the risk of a crash.

Audi has finally revealed the A7 Sportback in all its glory at a special event that took place at “Pinakothek der Moderne” art museum in Munich today.

The 5-door fastback coupe is Audi’s own take on the segment which currently has rivals in the form of BMW 5-Series GT and the upcoming Mercedes Benz CLS and to a lesser extent the Aston Martin Rapide and the Porsche Panamera. Based on the next generation A6’s modified platform the A7 Sportback was penned alongside the new A8 luxury sedan and according to the Audi is a perfect combination of elegant sports coupe, a sports sedan and practicality of a station wagon.
The overall styling remains true to the concept shown at the 2010 Delhi Auto Expo except for some minor details like the slightly reprofiled outside rear view mirror, bigger air dam on the front bumper and less pizza’s for the interiors which are more somber. The front is striking with angular headlamps while the side profile is a cross between the shooting brake and a coupe!
The A7 Sportback sits 4.97 meters long, 1.91 meters wide and 1.42 meters high. Its very practical as well with seating for four in true comfort and a boot capacity of 535 liters which swells to 1390 liter with the rear seats folded.
Powertrain details are still scarce but Audi says that A7 Sportback will comingwith 4 engines at launch – 2 petrols and 2 diesels with power outputs ranging from 204 bhp to 300 bhp. We are guessing the entry level 3.0 TDI V6 diesel to do with 204 bhp while the top of the range engine for now will be the 3.0 liter V6 Supercharged petrol with 300 bhp. The engines will be mated to either CVT multitronic transmission on the front wheel drive models or the dual clutch seven speed S-Tronic transmission with Audi’s Quattro all wheel drive system.
Audi hasn’t mentioned the go faster S7 or the RS7 or even the hybrid but they will be launched in due course. The A7 Sportback will hit showroom this fall with price starting from €51,600 in Germany.

With the launch function of the new Audi A7 Sportback just a few hours away, here is some more dope on the latest Audi in the from of leaked official pictures.
The production version has stayed true to the concept which was displayed at the 2010 Delhi Auto Expo except for some minor details like the design of the outside rear view mirrors and the air dam on the front bumper. The interior design is almost identical as well save for changes in the color schemes and the trim. The reports coming out on the internet also suggest that this is going to be a strict four seater.
The A7 Sportback will be offered with two engines at the launch – a V6 Diesel and Gasoline with Audi’s Quattro all wheel drive and S-tronic dual clutch transmission. Audi may also announce performance oriented S7 and RS7 for launch early next year.
The A7 will be placed between the A6 and the A8 luxury sedan and will compete with the ungainly but very talented BMW 5-Series GT and the beautiful Mercedes Benz CLS, the next generation of which will be out very soon.

Ford Motor Co has reported second quarter profit of S2.6 Billion as sales in U.S. rise by 20% and the company continues to gain further market share.
The company has earned a total of $2.1 Billion on its automotive operations compared to $1.1 Billion loss a year earlier. Revenues rose $4.5 Billion to $33.1 Billion.
The strong showing has surpassed market expectations and an earlier projection by CFO Lewis Booth who said that the company’s first quarter profit of $2.1 Billion would be the year’s strongest.
“We delivered a very strong second quarter and first half of 2010 and are ahead of where we thought we would be despite the still-challenging business conditions,” CEO Alan Mulally said in a statement.

Porsche has launched its all new 2011 Cayenne in the Indian market soon after it was launched internationally at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. We were the first Indian blog to have uncovered the details of the new Cayenne for you here.
A total of five Cayenne variants have been launched which includes the diesel and also for the first time in India, a hybrid with prices ranging from Rs 59.22 Lakhs for the Diesel topping at a whopping Rs 1.27 Crores for the uber powerful turbo model.
The new 2011 Porsche Caynne overall proportions are bigger than the outgoing model along with an increased wheelbase by 40 mm but is still a whopping 180 kgs lighter. Much of the weight loss is attributed to generous use of aluminium in its construction and swapping the old 6 speed gearbox and 4X4 transfer case for an all new 8-speed automatic transmission, which alone saved 60kgs in weight.
Porsche has also upped the game inside with more room for the rear seat passengers, better quality overall and 670 liters of boot capacity. On the outside, the styling is now sleeker, subtle and pleasing to the eye.
Of all the powerplants, the hybrid sounds the most interesting as far as Indian market is concerned. The hybrid variant comes with a supercharged 3.0 liter V6 which is combined with an electric motor to take the combined power output to 375 bhp and a peak torque output of 59 kgm available from as low as 1000 rpm! It also emits just 193 g/km of CO2 and a combined fuel consumption rating of 8.2 liter/100 kms.
