Game Changer?
This comes to you right from the horses mouth! Hyundai dealers will start taking bookings for the Eon hatchback starting tomorrow while the car will be officially launched on the 14th of October.
The latest from Hyundai will slotted just below the Santro and fight it out with Maruti Suzuki’s Alto twins. The Eon will be powered by a 814cc three cylinder engine, which is essentially Santro’s engine minus a cylinder, developing 56 bhp of maximum power and 75 nm of maximum torque. The engine is said to be highly fuel efficient as well with ARAI fuel economy rating of 21.1 kmpl.
The car will be launched in total of 6 variants – the D-Lite, D-Lite(O), Era, Magna, Magna (O) and top end Sportz. The new Eon is expected to be priced in the Rs 2.5 Lakhs to 3.5 Lakhs range. With its combination of style, efficiency and price tag this looks set to be another huge success for Hyundai in India.

As unbelievable as it may sound, Honda Siel Cars India has decided to cut the price of the Jazz by a mind numbing Rs 1.75 Lakhs (Yes its One Lakh Seventy Five Thousand)!
The company had previously announced Rs 66,000 cut in price for its bread and butter model City after sky rocketing petrol prices reduced the sales enough to get the management worried. The new pricing makes the very talented Jazz an incredible value for money given the peace mind, technology, quality, space and relatively trouble free ownership experience Honda cars are known for.

Jaguar Land Rover has opened a new dealership in Kolkata, West Bengal as a part of its continued expansion plan in the Indian market.
The state of the art dealership will improve access to customers from West Bengal and provide the complete Jaguar Land Rover experience of sales, servicing and after sales.
Based in the up market AJC Bose Road, the Kolkata dealership will enable customers to access the full range of Jaguar products including the XJ (in both diesel and petrol engine variants), XF (in both diesel and petrol engine variants), XFR and the XKR Coupe and Convertible. For Land Rover, it will offer the Freelander 2, Discovery 4, Range Rover Sport and the flagship Range Rover.

One of the most awaited small car of our times and one of the cheapest Toyota to be launched anywhere, the Etios Liva hatchback has been launched in India with prices starting at Rs 3.99 Lakhs to Rs 5.99 Lakhs, Ex-showroom, Delhi.
The car comes in five variants – ‘J’,'G’,'V’ and ‘VX’ and will initially come with a petrol engine only. The powertrain in question is a 1.2 litre four cylinder 16 valve DOHC petrol engine, christened 3NR-FE, with maximum power output of 80 ps @ 5600 rpm and a maximum 104 nm of torque at a fairly low 3100 rpm and is mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. Performance is expected to be pretty strong given that the base Liva ‘J’ weights a feather light 890 Kgs while the top end Liva Vx weights 920 kgs giving it a power to weight ratio of 89 bhp per tonne which is better than cars two segment higher!

Honda has announced the pricing details for the new CBR250R for the Indian market and the figures will make for a pleasant reading.

The Non-ABS version of the CBR250R has been priced at a very competitive Rs 1.43 Lakhs while the ABS equipped version will come for Rs 1.68 Lakhs! The pricing is just spot on for a motorcycle which has been reviewed and praised all around even when compared to the only other 250cc bike in the market, the Kawasaki Ninja 250R, which is twice as expensive.
With this pricing Honda may have started another round of price wars in the industry with other manufacturers like Yamaha and Bajaj already readying their competitors for this space. Watch out this space for more!

In what appears to be a reaction to the Etios launch yesterday, Mahindra has announced the launch of Logan CNG in the Indian matket.
The CNG variant is currently being offered in Delhi and Mumbai for the time being and will come with retrofit kits by Landi Renzo (Italy) for the 1.4 GLE/GLX versions. The kit will cost Rs 56,000 and comes equipped with a 12 kg cylinder which can hold 9.5 kgs of CNG. The new Logan CNG will deliver a mileage of 15-20 km/kg which will reduce the running costs when running on petrol by upto 50%.

As we reported earlier, Toyota has launched the much anticipated Etios sedan at a shock price of Rs 4.96 Lakhs for the base model, Ex-Showroom, New Delhi.
The Etios comes with a 2NR-FE engine – 1496cc 16V DOHC engine that delivers 90ps @ 5600rpm. The car has a generous bootspace of 595 ltrs and has undergone 2,00,000 km of real world testing in India for durability.

Tata Motor’s total sales (including exports) of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles in November 2010 were 54,622 vehicles, a growth of 1% over 54,108 vehicles sold in November 2009. The company’s domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for November 2010 were 50,419 nos., 1% growth over 50,114 nos. sold in November last year.
Cumulative sales (including exports) for the company for the fiscal are 499,492 nos., a growth of 31% over 381,003 nos. sold last year.
